Introduction

All bodies have their own unique way of moving, communicating and being. It is by discovering the codes of our bodies and those of others that we are able to create new organic expressions through the art of movement and thus extend our choreographic vocabulary.

Contact improvisation is a dance technique in which points of physical contact provide the starting point for exploration through movement improvisation. In essence it is the art of finding the mutual ebb and flow of our energetic bodies as we dance collide, connect and manifest.

In the Catalyst workshop we will explore various movement vocabularies, the elements that effect them, how they respond and communicate with inanimate objects and ultimately fuse them into a dynamic choreography style.
