Room X Concluded with Positive Response
Y-Space gave five performances of their experiential dance theatre production Room X in the Studio Theatre of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in April. It was a great success thanks to concerted efforts. Let us hear what the new staff member Joe CHENG the Assistant Stage Manager (Arts Production Intern Scheme ADC) has to say about the production!
Joe CHENG Assistant Stage Manager (Arts Production Intern Scheme ADC)
"Room X was my first production once I joined Y-Space. My duties started from assisting in and filming the rehearsals at the beginning, followed by researching the background information of the four main characters and props, co-operating with designers, to execute scene change and prepare props as an Acting Assistant Stage Manager with Men in Black, in addition to following up on the printing and delivery of leaflets and to promote on Facebook regularly. There was a lot of work but also a lot to learn. I joined Y-Space because I love dancing, therefore I wished to start my career in stage management in a dance company. I learnt more about Y-Space and the Hong Kong dance industry in these few months of work, and I am also more determined to continue working in this field. It is my honour to work with all these top designers in this production, and it is nice to know this group of professional dancers and performers, whose kindness and sense of humor filled the endless rehearsals with laughter. Last but not least, I am very thankful that Victor’s approved that I could dance with a bunch of professional dancers with the song Little Apple."
